Chris M. Hansen on 1 Corinthians 1:10-17 and the the Importance of Water Baptism in Paul's Theology

 

 

Paul attests in 1 Cor 1:10–17 that baptism was exceptionally important in nascent Christian communities, to the extent that baptized Christians considered who baptized them to be something of a status symbol, which in some cases caused dissent among ranks (and consternation for Paul).
