I found the following comment on Reachout Trust’s facebook page to be hilarious, and rather telling of how they lack any critical thinking skills:
Apparently, the Bible is “enough” (read: formally
sufficient) if “it’s Christ” (I am sure the author means “it’s Christ’s).
Using that logic:
The Book of Obadiah is Christ’s.
Ergo, the Book of Obadiah is enough.
Ergo, the Book of Obadiah contains the following:
Personal preexistence of Jesus
Discussion of (orthodox) atonement model(s)
Virginal Conception of the Messiah
Hypostatic Union
Jesus being consubstantial with the Father
Discussion of the ordo salutis, nature of justification,
nature of sanctification, and relationship between justification and
sanctification
Ecclesiology (both global and local)
Other primary and secondary doctrines.
Of course, the book of Obadiah does not teach any of these things. Something can be "of Christ"–does not mean the text is formally sufficient.
If this is the best the largest “counter-cult” group in
the UK can muster, no wonder Mike Thomas refuses to debate (on this, his email
is reachouttrust1@gmail.com)
