Attempting to impute evil to the LDS Church, one twitter page recently posted:
The impression given is that Carlyle Marsden was an innocent person who was forced to commit suicide by the evil LDS Church.
The reality? Marsden was not "outed" as gay by the police. He was married with kids and was arrested with 7 other men in a public restroom off I-15 engaging in homosexual behavior. He ruined his life with his selfish (and destructive) behavior behind his wife's back.
The following comes from The Daily Herald, March 16, 1976, p. 1:
Eight men were arraigned in the
Pleasant Grove Precinct Justice Court Monday afternoon on charges of lewdness
and sodomy stemming from alleged homosexual activity at the two rest stops on
I-15 north of Orem. ... Two of the suspects were arrested and charged with an
act of sodomy. One of them, a 54-year-old Salt Lake County man, died of a
self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest two days after his arrest, according to
Serge Moore, state medical examiner.
Imagine if Marsden was not a homosexual and instead was a heterosexual, and turned into a hero by the "Straight Pride" movement. One would claim that he was not a true hero and instead, selfish and evil, and took the coward's way out. The fact that the "Latter Gay History Podcast" has to turn him into a hero shows how desperate they are (1) to impute guilt to the LDS Church and (2) they have to massage the facts to support their evil agenda.
