Amos 9:12 that the rest of
humankind may seek after the LORD, and all the nations who are
called by my name,” says the LORD who does this.
Comments: The LXX and GNT (Acts
15:17) read anthropon “humankind” = אדם, whereas MT reads אדום “Edom,” a
misreading by one letter in a damaged scroll, or an aural confusion. Also, the
above Greek texts read ekzetesosin “seek” יררשו, while MT reads יררשו “possess,”
a misreading involving a dalet-yod confusion in a Paleo-Hebrew script. (Wayne A.
