The Interpreter Foundation just published a book review by my friend, Gregory L. Smith:
“Intellectual
Colonialism and Air Bud Theology: More on Queer Theory and The Church of
Jesus Christ”
It is a review of
Taylor G. Petrey’s Queering Kinship in the Mormon Cosmos (2024).
It is a
devastating review, showing that Petrey is (1) incapable of exegesis and (2) engages
in deception to support the skittles movement.
For a previous review
by Greg (this time of Petrey’s Tabernacles of Clay), see:
“Feet
of Clay: Queer Theory and the Church of Jesus Christ”
Funnily enough, Petrey’s
work is tainted with a lot of misogyny. A (real, biological) woman
discussed this in detail:
V. H. Cassler, “Plato’s Son,
Augustine’s Heir : ‘A Post-Heterosexual Mormon Theology’?,” SquareTwo
5 no. 2 (Summer 2012)
