Traces of the belief in a plurality of heavens are to be found in the
O.T. (Deut. 10:14, 1Kings 8:27, Ps. 148:4), and more clearly in the N.T. (2Cor.
12:2, Eph. 1:3, 20, 2:6, 3:10, 6:12; Heb. 4:14, 7:26). The conception is found
in Babylonian, Parsee, and Greek thought, as well as in apocalyptic and
