The following listing is based on:
R. Merle Fowler, Joseph
Smith and His Royal Lineage: A Blood Descendant of Jesus Christ (2006), 1:499-505:
1.
Moses
and Joseph (Smith) both saw what they thought was a non-consuming fire.
2.
Both
prophets used their older brothers as their closest assistants.
3.
They
both prophesied that great destruction would come upon their own land because
of the persecutions.
4.
They
both said that the more righteous followers of the Lord would be spared during
the predicted catastrophes.
5.
Both
prophesied that they would not enter their respective “promised land” with the
people that supported them.
6.
Both
prophets went up into a mountain, talked with an angel, and received records
with engravings on both sides.
7.
Both
set of records were taken back or destroyed because of unrighteousness.
8.
Both
prophets utilized the Urim and Thummin.
9.
Both
of their brothers, who were their closest assistants, died before Moses and
Joseph died.
10. The second, third, and fourth letters of
both Moses’ name and Joseph’s name are “o”, “S” and E.” While not significant,
interesting nonetheless. [RB: I think this is a huge stretch and ignores
Moses’ name is not spelled that way in Hebrew]
11. Both the Israelites and the Latter-Day
Saints went through the ordeal of a mass exodus from civilization to hundreds
of miles into the wilderness.
12. During the exodus of both parties, they
both organized into groups of hundreds, rulers of fifties and tens.
13. During extreme hardship, the Lord sent
quail into the camps of both the Israelite Saints and the Latter-day Saint to
provide them with meat to eat.
14. They both suffered a plague of locusts
that were cast into the water destroyed by something from the west.
15. Both modern and Israelite nations have
added more scriptures to those already approved by their prophets.
