Are you careful to bring your
children to be baptised in order to make them Christians, removing from their
souls the stain of original sin and make them heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven?
This too has been ordained for us by God: <<Go into all the world and preach
the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be
saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.>> (Mark 16,
15-16). In truth, this command of Our Lord’s imposes a great responsibility on
parents. Those who put off having their children baptised are exposing them to
the risk of finding the way to happiness barred to them, something far worse
than if they were to lose possession of the whole world. Yes, indeed, for
nothing can be compared to the supreme good of Eternal Life. And who can
guarantee that your children will live while you put off such an important
event? (Sister Lucia, “Calls” From the Message of Fatima [trans. Sisters
of Mosteiro de Santa Maria and Convento des N.S. do Bom Sucesso, Lisbon;
