In a letter from April 1831, Thomas and Eliza Marsh, speculating on where God would instruct the Latter-day Saints to settle, wrote that:
Perhaps it will be to take our
march to the Grand preraras in the Missouri teretori or to the shining
mountains which is 1500 or 2000 miles west frrom us (Thomas
