Update: I am reposting this as James recently challenged Cole/Mormonger (who is not an apologist or has any debate experience) to a moderated debate. See below:
I have recently challenged James R. White to two debates. The following is taken from here:
I sometimes listen to the Dividing Line. Over the years I have amassed almost 20 books by James R. White of @AominOrg (Fatal Flaw; both editions of Is the Mormon My Brother? Forgotten Trinity; The God Who Justifies; Mary: Another Redeemer?). I have also listened to most of his debates against Catholics and those against LDS (some of whom are friends of mine, such as Martin Tanner and Dan Peterson). He sometimes claims that it is impossible to find Latter-day Saints to debate him these days. I would like to both challenge this *and* offer the following debate challenges to James.
If James (or Rich) wants to discuss this in more detail, my email is ScripturalMormonismATgmailDOTcom.
James, the debate proposals are:
(1) "Does the Bible Teach the Doctrine and Practice of Sola Scriptura?" (while an 'old topic' for you, per your RC debates vs. Pacwa et al., this would add a new dimension to the discussion as you have never debated a Latter-day Saint on this topic)
(2) "The Book of Abraham is an Authentic 19th-Century Translation of an Ancient Text" (or something similar)–you have often said that the BOA is the single greatest disproof of Joseph Smith's claims to being a prophet of God, and I do not want to seem like I just want to do a "hit and run" by focusing on sola scriptura merely.
Opening statements: 20 mins each
Rebuttals: 10 mins each
Cross Ex: 15 mins each
Conclusions: 7 mins each
I am currently back in the Republic of Ireland, but if you are open to such debates, we could do them online on your channel or even Jeremiah Noriter's (he is a friend of mine who can vouch for me; I helped him prepare for his debate on Mariology back in 2021). My preference would be to have a neutral moderator (maybe Peter Williams? We are in the same time zone so won't make things too crazy), but am happy to discuss the fine points further with you and/or Rich.
