Examples of the Present Participle Having a Future Force in the New Testament

  

For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling (αποδημων) into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. (Matt 25:14)

 

Then Judas, which betrayed (παραδιδους) him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said. (Matt 26:25)

 

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born (το γεννωμενον) of thee shall be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:35)

 

And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against (αντιλεγομενον). (Luke 2:34)

 

Or what king, going (πορευομενος) to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh (ερχουενω) against him with twenty thousand? (Luke 14:31)

 

Neither pray I thee for these alone, but for them also which shall believe (πιστευοντων) on me through their word. (John 17:20)

 

And finding a ship sailing (διαπερων) over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth. (Acts 21:2)
