The Use of χαριτοω in the Perfect Passive Participle in (Pseudo-)Diognetus the Areopagite, On Divine Names 7

  

Τούτο τάγαθον ύμνεϊται πρός τών ίερών θεολόγων καί ώς καλόν, καί ώς κάλλος, καί ώς άγάπη καί ώς άγαπητόν, καί όσαι άλλαι εύπρεπεϊς είσι της καλλοποού καί κεχαριτωμένης ώραιότητος θεωνυμίαι. Το δέ καλόν καί κάλλος διαιρετέον έπι της έν ένι τά όλα συνειληφυίας αιτίας· ταύτα γάρ έπι μέν τών δντων άπάντων είς μετοχές καί μετέχοντα διαιρούντες, καλόν μέν είναι λέγομεν τό κάλλους μετέχον, κάλλος δε την μετοχήν τής καλλοποιού τών όλων καλών αϊτίας. (PG 3:701)

 

This Good is extolled in hymn to the holy theologians as Good, as Beautiful, as Loving, and as Beloved, and as many other things which are fitting in the divine names of the One who fashions beauty and of the loveliness that is graced. And the Good and the Beauty are to be apportioned among all things according to the one common cause of participation; for these, as for all that is divine, are distributed as shares and participants. We say that the share which partakes is Good, and that Beauty is the participation of the One who fashions all good things for a cause.
