I have much cause to be thankful to our Heavenly Father
that personally I still enjoy so a large degree of this priceless blessing, as
also for His assurances of continued manifestations of His good pleasure. I see
no cause for any trembling at the knees, no room for doubt, no place for despondency;
God, our God, has promised in every age, and has renewed the promise with
succeeding generations, that in the latter days He would perform His great and wonderful
work, and the kingdom and the greatness of the kingdom should never be given to
another people. We are the blessed people upon whom He has conferred it, and
His word is certain and its fulfillment sure. (John Taylor, letter, November 7,
1884, repr. “Letter from
President Taylor,” Millennial Star 49, no. 1 [December 1, 1884], 754])
