“The LORD showed me” — in the manner of night visions.
Ibn Ezra on Zechariah 3:1:2
“And the satan” — an enemy, as Sanballat did, and as the adversaries of Judah
did; and there it is written, “they wrote a letter of accusation.” They were a
satan to Joshua, because they did not want the house to be built, and Joshua to
be high priest.
